According to my group an example of figurative language would be " A daughter is a needle in the heart" (Alvarez). This would be a metaphor because it compares his daughter to being needle by saying she is the needle. The father said this because he didn't know what would become of him when his children were gone. They chose foreshadowing because the father changed his mind about not wanting his daughters to grow up.
